Japan 2008 Day 13: Tokyo (Palette Town)

Palette Town is a shopping mall and entertainment complex containing a giant red ferris wheel plus Toyota's showcase centre (Mega Web).

I read several online Tokyo travelogues that proclaimed “Palette Town” as a “must” place to visit at Odaiba, so we stopped here. I was expecting (from the name) a converted container warehouse, but it’s actually a combination of attractions. It is a shopping mall and entertainment complex containing the Daikanransha (大観覧車) – a giant red ferris wheel that was the world’s largest when it was built in 1999. It also contains Toyota’s showcase centre called Mega Web, and a huge shopping centre called Venus Fort designed to look like a European medieval walled town.
